Nikon Coolpix L18
Click thumbnail to view full-sizePhotography is my second passion, so I decided to upgrade my mediocre camera to one that's far more superior. Before I went to the store to buy this superior breed of camera, I wrote down a list of the major components I want my camera to have and I decided that I wasn't going to leave the store until I found exactly what I wanted.
My List
- Large screen
- Simple to use
- Easy to download pictures
Simple enough, right? Well, when I browsed the cameras on the shelf and gave a few of them a test drive, I was disappointed that none of the cameras fit my description. Some might have one thing, but not the other. Determined, I marched over to the sales clerk and (happy day for me!) he managed to find a camera for me that not only met my criteria, it also had a few extra perks!
The ruby red camera seemed to radiate with amazingness as I held it up for inspection. I took a few pictures and they all came out to be beautiful! The colors were bright and vibrant and the camera has an anti-shake feature which helps to make the picture look alot more focused. I quickly purchased the camera and scurried home to play with it some more.
I had a great time taking pictures with the different settings (there are quite a bit to choose from)! With eight megapixels, each picture surprised me with it's almost professional quality. You certaintly don't have to be an professional photographer to take pictures with this camera!
I've had this camera for almost a year now and I still enjoy using it. I would definately reccomend this as a gift if you or someone you know enjoys photography nearly as much as I do!

I got one of these for Christmas-- and have really loved it. As you said, easy to use and it takes pretty good pictures.
It's also pretty tough. I've dropped it a couple of times which worried me-- especially the time when it bent the telecoping lense out of alignment-- but it, was easily pushed back into position and that seemed to have no adverse affect.
